About asbestos surveys in buildings in use

In preliminary surveys for demolition work and renovation work of buildings, it is stipulated in detail in the Great Defense Law and the Asbestos Act, and it is required that all building materials related to construction be comprehensively investigated.

However, in pre-design surveys and pre-renovation work surveys, there are cases where the investigation cannot be carried out for various reasons, such as rooms where the building is in use and investigation cannot be carried out, hidden parts requiring work such as removal/crushing of building materials, building materials and waterproof layers constructed at high places, etc.

In that case, it is necessary to re-investigate the room or location where the investigation has not been carried out at the stage where the investigation becomes possible before construction begins.

For rooms and locations where the investigation could not be carried out, it is important to state that effect (the scope and location where the investigation was not carried out, and why it was not possible) in the preliminary investigation report, and be sure to re-check before construction begins.

When conducting a preliminary survey, we recommend that you investigate in detail the usage status of the building to be investigated at the time of the survey and details of the area where the survey is impossible.

To conduct an asbestos-containing building material survey, an investigation by a building asbestos-containing building materials investigator is required.
