It has been covered on our blog before, but chemical substance management will change due to government ministry ordinance revisions to the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

There are also laws and regulations that have already been enforced, but mainly the following details will be newly enforced from Reiwa 6/4.

• Expansion of substances subject to mandatory notification by labeling, SDS, etc.
• Prevention of direct contact with harmful chemicals such as skin
• Appointment of chemical substance managers
• Appointment of a person responsible for the management of wearing protective equipment
• Implementation of health examinations based on risk assessments, preparation of records, etc.
• Expansion of employment education
• Third control category (work environment measurement) strengthening measures at workplaces
